We are a family run catering and coach hire business in Durham City North East England.
Terrance and Annette Hewitson originally started the catering business in 1984 making ready-made meals for service stations, train stations and local shops. After demand became too much new premises where opened in Carrville enabling the company to offer new products including sandwiches and pastries.
In the mid 80's the company expanded again into providing hot and cold buffets to the public, a delivery and set up service was created this quickly expanded into providing catering services for local businesses mainly in the Durham area.
In 1987 we started to put hostess and stewards onto national express coaches providing food and drinks to customers travelling around the UK, more coach companies became aware of our on-board services and with in a few months our service staff where doing trips to France and Spain.
The early 90's the focus of the company changed with more local demand for our catering services, we started to offer a range of menus for all manor of public events including weddings, funerals, kids party's and BBQ's to name a few, as well as the public side of the company being in demand the business clients had also increased and we found ourselves not only catering for events in Durham but Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland and Darlington.
In 1996 we expanded into food vending machines and corporate BBQ's mainly in County Durham this is now expanded into the whole North East area.
In 1997 we extended our premises in carrville Durham to incorporate new vehicle storage and extra space for our catering team, this enabled us to provide more catering services and increase our client base by 30%
At the end of the 1990's the company had a series of knock backs stopping any progression for the next five years starting with a decision from the government to insist all the hostess and stewards selling food and drinks onboard national express coaches to now be paid minimum wage instead of being self employed, we believed this ruling to be unrealistic and after a long court case in London we won our hearing, but this took it's toll on the company as less time was available for taking the company forward.
Shortly after the court case it was discovered Mrs Hewitson had developed cancer and after a long battle sadly died in 2003 leaving a massive void in all our lives.
In 2004 and 2005 Philip and Richard hewitson became full time employees assisting Terry with the day-to-day running of the company.
In the new millennium we continue to provide high-class catering to members of the public and all of our business clients servicing the North East region on a daily basis, the coach hire side of the business is also back on track with more focus on executive on-board food and service.
